3 women rescued after decades of slavery in London

21/11/2013

It’s no surprise that slavery still exists in the present day.  Foreign workers in Saudi Arabia are treated like the property of the wealthy people who own them.  And  there are “indentured workers” in many countries, who are “paying back” a “debt” to the criminals who smuggled them into Europe/USA.  But the story in the Guardian is still stunning: 3 women of various ages have been freed by the police after one of them saw a report about modern-day slavery and worked up the courage to contact the Freedom Charity, who work to stamp out these horrific crimes.  One of the women rescued from their “owners” in Lambeth, South London, is 30 years old and may never have left the house where they lived.

These are brutal, horrific crimes that might be happening in your next door neighbour’s house right now, as this Lambeth story demonstrates.  And it is clearly difficult to detect.  If the slave is not as brave as the women involved in this particular case, how can the police even know it’s happening?

EDIT: It now appears that the older slaves and their “owners” used to be in a tiny but extreme ultra-left Marxist/Leninist/Maoist organisation, the Workers’ Institute of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought. 74 year old Aravindan Balakrishnan, aka “Comrade Bala” was the leader and his wife Chanda Balakrishnan, aged 67, a fellow activist. It seems that the 2 older slaves may have been members of the group, and the youngest slave may be Comrade Bala’s child. It was believed that the Workers’ Institute of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought had been inactive since the 1970s. But now it looks like at least one tiny splinter group has been active until very recently!

Pills that make you mad!

06/11/2013

DothiepinMany years ago, a mate of mine with psychology problems swapped a bottle of Dothiepin (now known as Dosulepin) for some hash. Dothiepin was what me and my mates called a “mad drug”.  It helped mad people to function “as normal”.  What I didn’t know was that a sane person who took Dothiepin went through a spell of insanity.

I gave a few pills to a couple of people I know and boom! they suffered this insanity.  Multi-sensory hallucinations (visual, aural, touch) were all too common – and seemed so real.  One of my guinea pigs reported that, after I’d left him, he carried on making conversations with me (visual, aural etc), and that night he had for hours that I was hiding under his bed!  Another mate reported similar phenomena.  So, mad pills make you mad.

Now I gotta find my “normal pills” so all you fools think I’m normal! Pweet-woot wanna bing bong!

So the police lied about Plebgate… what a surprise…

04/11/2013

Well, whaddaya know? When Tory ex-Cabinet Minister Andrew Mitchell was accused of swearing at Downing Street cops and calling them “fucking plebs”, I thought it was probably true. That’s a classic Tory attitude isn’t it: “The police officers won’t open the main gates for me and my bicycle. Who are they to disobey their Lords and Masters? Fucking plebs.”

But now, it appears that the police were lying – and that is equally feasible. We’re not just talking about the cops who were actually there at Downing Street, in all the hoo-hah and police “investigations” into themselves and their mates, the police including the chief constables of West Mercia, Warwickshire and the West Midlands constabularies, have all been lying about the affair.

The police in Britain usually investigate themselves when there has been complaint of wrong-doing, and they generally don’t believe anyone who isn’t a copper. I have personal experience of making a complaint against the police and the “complaints department” have dismissed my complaint even though there was documentary proof that the officers in question were lying.

Well, the cops who apparently made up the “pleb” story are now to be recalled to Parliament to apologise for lying to a committee of MPs, and if they don’t do it they will be “in contempt of Parliament” which hopefully means they’ll get sent to the Tower of London to be beheaded. There would be plenty of folk volunteering for the executioner job; in fact I wouldn’t mind taking a swing at it myself!
